nami is deploying a sensing platform based on the Thread network. Here are a few fundamentals you need to know as a user to ensure your system works as intended.
1. nami Thread border router
In the nami platform, the first capable device of a zone is commissioned as a border router. This device relays information between the Thread network and the internet.
- The following nami devices are capable of being a border router: mesh sensor, WiDAR sensor
- Users should always start by commissioning those devices in a zone
- There is one border router per zone in the nami architecture
- Users should never power off the border router, as it would offline the whole zone
2. nami battery-operated and Thread enabled devices
The nami platform also supports battery-operated Thread devices such as the contact sensor. Those devices rely on the Thread network and the zone's border router for internet connectivity.
- The following nami devices are battery operated and Thread enabled: contact sensor
- Such devices can only be commissioned in a zone with an existing border router
- Such devices must be placed in the vicinity of a powered device from the zone also belonging to the Thread network
- Such devices does not have to be placed in the vicinity of the border router of the zone
