Welcome to this guide about commissioning and installing our thread contact sensor device. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the different configuration steps and any questions you might have.
This procedure contains three steps.
1. Commission the contact sensor using the nami app.
2. Install the contact sensor on the door frame.
3. Test the installation using the nami app (TBD).
1 - Commission the contact sensor
Before you start commissioning
1. Sign in to the nami app using your preferred sign-in mechanism.
Make sure you are using a version older than <>
2. Select a place where your account has the administrator role.
If you don't have any place, you can create a new one or join an existing place by using an invite.
3. Make sure that the place already has a mesh sensor paired.
The mesh sensors all must be online when you start the contact sensor commissioning.
4. Make sure you are using the same mobile phone you used to pair the mesh sensors
The same phone used to commission the mesh sensors in the place must be used for the contact sensor commissioning. If you don't have access to this phone, you will have to factory reset the mesh sensors and commission them using the phone you have at hand.
Commissioning steps
1. Start the set up a single device flow
You can access it from the place settings.
2. Select contact sensor
Note that this type is available only if a mesh sensor is paired in the place. Please refer to point 3. of the previous section.
3. Select the zone for your contact sensor
You are not able to create a new zone for your contact sensor, as at least one mesh sensor must be paired in the zone you use for the contact sensor. The zones without mesh sensors will be greyed out of the selection screen.
At this step, you may see an error "You are not using the same mobile phone". Please refer to point 4. of the previous section if this happens.
4. Select the room for your contact sensor
You can select an existing room or create a new one.
5. Take your contact sensor out of the box
- Remove the battery tab of your sensor
- Take it near the desired installation location. We recommend setting it up on your front door if not already covered.
6. Scan the QR code
If you have just downloaded the nami app, you will have to provide the permission to access the system camera to the nami app. In general, make sure the camera permission is enabled for the nami app in your system settings.
7. Press the top button once
Short press the top button of the contact sensor for less than 2 seconds.
The LED should be pulsing blue, indicating that the contact sensor has entered pairing mode.
If not, please look at the following page.
> My device is not pulsing blue
8. Name your device
We advise using the name of the door you are going to use your contact sensor for.
9. Finish commissioning
At this stage, the contact sensor will attempt to join the Thread network.
You may see the following error "No Thread network found".
In that case, please check out the following guide.
> My device can not reach the Thread network
2 - Install your contact sensor on the door frame
Note that the nami contact sensor is meant to be place on doors only. It is IP20 rated, meaning not waterproof. User must avoid putting them on windows where it may be exposed to rain.
1 - Clean the door frame and make sure it’s not dusty
2 - Peel out the sticker at the back of the sensor
3 - Place your contact sensor at the top of the door.
4 - Ensure than the two parts of the sensors are less than 2cm (0.8 in) away when the door is closed
3 - Test the contact sensor (TBD)
Open and close the door and look at the device page in the nami app.
You will see the door status being reflected in the nami app.
